Is God All Powerful or Not?

Essentially, all false religions and cults have one goal in mind: To get you to stop trusting the words of the living God and instead, put your trust in their organization. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord and we will trust His word over the lies, rumors, heresies, doubts, and traditions of these false organizations. But what about you? When the question of the authority of Scripture comes up are you going to believe the empty words of false prophets, teachers, popes, and organizations, or the words of God Himself?

For the most part these counterfeit groups would agree that God created the heavens and the earth and that He is the architect of everything from the vastness of the galaxies yet to be discovered by man, to the tiniest microorganisms that are more complex than any supercomputers that we could ever build. And with few exceptions I’m confident that these groups also believe that God sustains His creation and that He’s omnipotent, omniscient, and all powerful.

Yet ironically they do not believe He had or has the power to sustain and preserve His word from generation to generation. How convenient for them that the God of all creation has this one weakness (that their popes, prophets, and programs can help God out with).

God was very clear about the tenacity of His Word: It is forever settled in Heaven (Psalm 119:89), it endures forever (Isaiah 40:8, 1 Peter 1:25), the smallest letter or stroke of the law shall not pass (Matthew 5:18), and Heaven and earth will pass away before His word does (Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 16:17, Luke 21:33).

Yet the false prophets will have you believe that the sovereign God who created and sustains the universe simply could not ensure the preservation of His own Word, but their “new revelation” on the other hand, is accurate and can be trusted in spite of the fact that their doctrines keep being added to, subtracted from, and changing from prophet to prophet, from leader to leader, and from pope to pope.

 The Scriptures are for our instruction and to provide hope (Romans 15:4), for teaching (Deuteronomy 11:9, 2 Chronicles 17:9), for equipping Christians for good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and it gives us assurance of salvation (1 John 5:13).

Furthermore, God’s Word is more precious than silver and gold (Psalm 119:72), it’s a lamp, a light, and the way of life (Proverbs 6:23), it’s a lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105), it teaches us to fear the Lord (Deuteronomy 17:19), it purifies (Psalm 119:9), it gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130), it teaches us so that we can walk in His paths (Isaiah 2:3), it sanctifies (John 17:17, Ephesians 5:26), it testifies to Jesus Christ (John 5:39), it leads us to Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:24), and it judges our thoughts and attitudes (Hebrews 4:12).

When you consider what God’s Word does, you can see why false religions and cults wish to separate you from it! If they can drive a wedge between you and the word of God, then they will have successfully separated you from the only source by which to measure truth. Then you are easy prey for their new revelations, their other gospels (Galatians 1:6-9), and their false christs.

Jesus from Genesis to Revelation

The Bible, from cover to cover, answers the question,
“Who is this Jesus?”

In the Old Testament:

- In Genesis, He is the Creator God.

- In Exodus, He is the Redeemer.

- In Leviticus, He is your sanctification.

- In Numbers, He is your guide.

- In Deuteronomy, He is your teacher.

- In Joshua, He is the mighty conqueror.

- In Judges, He gives victory over enemies.

- In Ruth, He is your kinsman, your lover, your redeemer.

- In I Samuel, He is the root of Jesse.

- In 2 Samuel, He is the Son of David.

- In 1 Kings and 2 Kings, He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

- In 1st and 2nd Chronicles, He is your intercessor and High Priest.

- In Ezra, He is your temple, your house of worship.

- In Nehemiah, He is your mighty wall, protecting you from your enemies.

- In Esther, He stands in the gap to deliver you from your enemies.

- In Job, He is the arbitrator who not only understands your struggles, but has the power to do something about them.

- In Psalms, He is your song–and your reason to sing.

- In Proverbs, He is your wisdom, helping you make sense of life and live it successfully.

- In Ecclesiastes, He is your purpose, delivering you from vanity..

- In the Song of Solomon, He is your lover, your Rose of Sharon.

- In Isaiah, He is the mighty counselor, the prince of peace, the everlasting father, and more. He’s everything you need.

- In Jeremiah, He is your balm of Gilead, the soothing salve for your sin-sick soul.

- In Lamentations, He is the ever-faithful one upon whom you can depend.

- In Ezekiel, He is your wheel in the middle of a wheel–the one who assures that dry, dead bones will come alive again.

- In Daniel, He is the ancient of days, the ever- lasting God who never runs out of time.

- In Hosea, He is your faithful lover, always beckoning you to come back–even when you have abandoned Him.

- In Joel, He is your refuge, keeping you safe in times of trouble.

- In Amos, He is the husbandman, the one you can depend on to stay by your side.

- In Obadiah, He is Lord of the Kingdom.

- In Jonah, He is your salvation, bringing you back within His will.

- In Micah, He is judge of the nation.

- In Nahum, He is the jealous God.

- In Habakkuk, He is the Holy One.

- In Zephaniah, He is the witness.

- In Haggai, He overthrows the enemies.

- In Zechariah, He is Lord of Hosts.

- In Malachi, He is the messenger of the covenant.

In the New Testament:

- In Matthew, He is king of the Jews.

- In Mark, He is the servant.

- In Luke, He is the Son of Man, feeling what you feel.

- In John, He is the Son of God.

- In Acts, He is Savior of the world.

- In Romans, He is the righteousness of God.

- In I Corinthians, He is the rock that followed Israel.

- In II Corinthians, He the triumphant one, giving victory.

- In Galatians, He is your liberty; He sets you free.

- In Ephesians, He is head of the Church.

- In Philippians, He is your joy.

- In Colossians, He is your completeness.

- In I Thessalonians, He is your hope.

- In II Thessalonians, He is your glory.

- In I Timothy, He is your faith.

- In II Timothy, He is your stability.

- In Titus He is your reason for serving.

- In Philemon, He is your benefactor.

- In Hebrews, He is your perfection.

- In James, He is the power behind your faith.

- In I Peter, He is your example.

- In II Peter, He is your purity.

- In I John, He is your life.

- In II John, He is your pattern.

- In III John, He is your motivation.

- In Jude, He is the foundation of your faith.

- In Revelation, He is your coming King.

God Can Use You

Think of all the ordinary people God has used to turn this world upside down.

Think of that shepherd boy David, who God raised up to be the greatest king in the history of Israel.

God used that frightened man Gideon to lead a great army and he turned out to be a man of courage and valor.

A simple Jewish girl named Esther saved her people from destruction because she stood up for what was right. God used Deborah to lead the armies of Israel into battle when everyone else was afraid.

God called two ordinary fishermen, Peter and John, to speak His Word with boldness.

You see, God can use ordinary people like you. As the Scripture says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

God clearly looks for ordinary people to turn this world upside down. There exists a place and a calling for every one of us. We all have something to do for the Lord.

God can do a lot with a little. My life is evidence of that! God changed me, and He can change you. When you have been with Jesus, God can use you.

God said to Saul, “I will make thee another man,” and to David too-God made him another man. He turned him into something he wasn’t. It’s almost like playing a role.

When God has given you a role to play and you can play it with divine anointing and real inspiration of the Lord and by the power of His Spirit, you become that creation of God!

If you’re willing to be what God wants you to be, not what you are but what God wants you to be, then He can mightily use you. He makes the difference between lifeless clay and the alive, pulsating energetic body of a human being! It’s the breath of God, the anointing and power of God that makes the difference and don’t you forget it! Without Him you’re nothing!

Anything you do, washing dishes taking care of babies, no matter what it is, you can do it in the Spirit! But if you just have the letter of the law of duty only, it drags you down and turns you off. If you’ve got that divine anointing, it makes every little task wonderful!

I used to get really anointed working on the engine of the car.-It thrilled me! You can be an anointed worm and become a glowworm for God! They glow in the dark, you know. Without the anointing you’d just be an ordinary ugly little bug. But with the anointing you become a firefly lighting up the night for God.

The body without the spirit is dead.-So is every song, every sermon, every witness, every book, every picture. But the Spirit can make anything glorious. It can make you even clean toilets with an artistic finesse and be proud of the good job you did and consider it a work of art and a thing of beauty.

The Spirit can turn it on, no matter what it is or who it is, and give it glory and glamour and life. Beauty, joy and life and heat and everything.-You name it! It’s the Spirit that makes the difference.
Have you got the Spirit? Has … whatever you do got the power, the fire of God?-If not, it’s dead works!-And it’ll never set anyone else on fire either! God help you to have the fire-power of God’s Spirit in all you do!-Amen
